Emma Hoyle MPhys(Hons), AMInstP, CertNatSci(Open)
Emma set up A* Editing Services in 2004 and is a freelance proofreader and copy-editor, providing copy-editing and proofreading services for numerous clients.
Emma is an Associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and a Member of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE). She has studied Basic Editing: a practical course by Nicola Harris, published by the Publishing Training Centre, which is responsible for the development of the UK's National Occupational Standards in the Publishing sector.
Emma has also had in-house experience working in a publishing-house environment at the Institute of Physics Publishing Ltd., Bristol, England, where she completed editing and writing work in monthly publications.
Emma holds a Master of Physics (MPhys) with Honours in Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology (a 4-year degree) from Lancaster University, gained in 2003. She also has a Certificate in Natural Sciences from the Open University, which covers all the sciences: Biology, Earth Sciences, Chemistry and Physics. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics (AMInstP). A few of her articles have also been published in the internationally acclaimed magazine, Physics World, for which she has also done editing work (see above).

Windows XP; Office 2003; AVG Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware – updated daily; hardware firewall; colour printer; scanner for photocopying.
